During the 2024 YMCA Peace Week, YMCA of Southwestern Ontario joined YMCAs across Canada honouring individuals and groups who are leading the way in creating positive change.We are proud to present the YMCA Peace Medal to the following recipients:

Shauna’s journey at the YMCA began with the simple need of a mom - childminding. Her three boys were her world, and finding a place where they could thrive while she pursued her wellness goals felt like a blessing. What started as a convenient solution quickly blossomed into a deeper connection with the Y community.

In October, the City of Windsor hosted its annual ECE Appreciation Event, celebrating the dedication and achievements of Windsor-Essex Child Care Workers and Early Childhood Educators. This event recognized outstanding individuals through awards in categories such as Excellence in Early Learning, Emerging Professional, Advancing Pedagogy and Practice, and The Joy of Outdoor Learning.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people andorganizations to transform their communities and the world. Taking place after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday is often referred to as the “opening day of the giving season”.

As we celebrate its 40th year in 2025, the YMCA Women of Excellence Awards continues to be a unique and inspiring celebration hosted every two years by YMCA of Southwestern Ontario. Nominations for the 2025 YMCA Women of Excellence honourees are now open and will close on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.  

In a heartwarming show of community support, YMCA Southwestern Ontario (YSWO) extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to the first-ever Jordan’s Run the Runway event series in 2024. Held at three airport locations—Chatham, Sarnia, and London—this unique event brought together hundreds of participants who ran, walked, and rolled through a 5K course.
