School Age Recreation Programs
With help from local municipalities, donors, and through meaningful partnerships, the YMCA faciliates programs to support children in various ways including; healthy eating and nutrition, wellness and personal health education, building social skills, improving literacy and numeracy skills, and experiencing new opportunities. All programs are run in a fun, safe and secure environment by YMCA staff leaders.
Community School Programs
YMCA Community School Programs (CSP) offer interest-based clubs over the lunch hour and after school in 16 elementary schools in London and St. Thomas.
These programs are made possible through the support of the United Way, in partnership with the London District Catholic School Board and Thames Valley District School Board.
Kids Club
The YMCA Kids Club is focused on supporting children and youth in physical activity, healthy eating and nutrition, wellness and personal health education in an after school setting. We provide students the opportunity to develop and learn in a fun, safe, and secure environment.
Beyond the Bell
YMCA Beyond the Bell helps break the cycle of poverty by closing the achievement gap experienced by low income children. This program takes a holistic approach to the well-being of every child. By working closely with teachers, the individual challenges of each child are identified, understood and a preventative plan of action is put in place.
Resource Houses
The YMCA Community Services Department provides before and after school programming in three neighbourhood amenity houses in geared-to-income neighborhoods.
RASP & YRASP
The Youth Recreation and Sport Program (YRASP) is a youth program facilitated by the YMCA, with assistance of several local community partners, to deliver sport and recreational activities for youth regardless of their financial circumstances.
Jumpstart
Jumpstart is a community based charitable program funded by Canadian Tire that helps children in need participate in organized sport and recreational activities.
