Jordan’s Run the Runway is one of the most unique runs in the city. Held at the airport on the actual runway, the event is open to everyone. There are different adult races, including one just for kids, as well as a run/walk for adults. The energy and cheering are contagious, and one of the best parts is the after-party! Held in Diamond Aircraft, amongst cool planes, runners, family, and friends celebrate with food, beer, and a silent auction. It’s a great family event.
The event is held in memory of Jordan Strickland, who, even though he could not speak, touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Camp Queen Elizabeth accepted Jordan with open arms as a young camper, and he went on to spend 17 summers there, including working as a volunteer counselor. Today, through the funds raised from Jordan’s Run, we are able to send kids to this same camp, free of charge. Children who would otherwise not be able to attend, are financially sponsored so that we can help ensure everyone has the opportunity to experience the magic of camp and create lasting memories and friendships, just like Jordan did.
