The YMCA is a charity igniting the potential in people. We believe there is potential inside all of us – we all have it in us to shine. We are excited to announce that our Y will have a new look and feel!
Since 2012, our tagline has been ‘Building Healthy Communities’ and while this is still true, we have adopted a new tagline - ‘Shine On.’ We feel this truly represents our beliefs (and we believe strongly in a lot of things):
- We believe everyone has the innate potential to thrive.
- We believe in helping those who need the most support.
- We believe everyone belongs.
- We believe all people should be treated with dignity and compassion.
- We believe everyone has the right to participate.
- We believe in truth and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and communities.
Our programs and services remain the same, but you will notice a fresh new look and feel in the messaging through our communications, our design pieces, and on our website for instance. You will see this with others Y’s across Canada as well.
What does Shine On mean for people who use the Y?
You know that feeling you get when you accomplish something you didn’t think was possible? When you suddenly feel hope where there was only doubt? When you get access to something that you thought was out of reach? When you feel like you belong to something much bigger than yourself? That’s what it means to Shine On.
Whatever dream you have. Whatever obstacle is standing in your way. There is an inner light that wants to shine. With the YMCA’s programs, support, and guidance, people can improve their sense of well-being so they can let that light out into the world.
We are excited to launch our new Shine On brand and hope you love it as much as we do!
