Windsor YMCA at Central Park Athletics receives a $20,000 grant from the Canada Post Community Foundation.

The Windsor YMCA at Central Park Athletics is grateful to the Canada Post Community Foundation for their generous grant of $20,000 to support the YMCA Inclusion Camping Program throughout the 2019 season.

The YMCA Inclusive Camping Program enables children with special needs the unique opportunity to attend YMCA Camps without limitations or restrictions.  Our Inclusive Camp participants often have physical, developmental, or behavioral barriers requiring one-on-one support which can limit their access to camp programs. However, the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario provides this important program across the region in order to best support and integrate children with special needs and provide the social, physical, and emotional well-being support for children and youth by removing barriers to participation and increasing the activity levels of all campers.

The mission of the Canada Post Community Foundation is to make a positive impact in the lives of children in the communities they serve. In the past seven years, the Foundation has provided more than $7 million to projects across Canada that are truly delivering a brighter future for Canadian children and youth.

Canada Post Community Foundation

Thanks to this grant from the Canada Post Community Foundation, children and youth at the Windsor YMCA at Central Park Athletics branch will be able to access camps regardless of any barrier they might face, and will be able to participate in programs that improve their mental, physical and social health and wellness.

“LOVE THE YMCA SUMMER CAMPS! I just wanted to say how much my daughter is enjoying herself again this year. She comes home with an amazing story each day, and she always says something positive about the counsellors and her friends.  I love that I can drop her off in the morning’s and know that she is going to have an amazing time there. A huge shout out to all your counsellors and staff, who are doing a phenomenal job, keeping these kids active, and enjoying their summer – makes it easier for us parents who must be away from them.  Hope you are enjoying your summer. I will be signing her up for August as well!!! Cheers, Camper Parent”
