Below you will find 3 award category descriptions: Volunteerism, Advocacy & Community Service; Health, Wellness & Perseverance; and Skills Development & Creative Expression. Please read each award category description carefully and then choose the award that best describes you. You'll find the link to the award descriptions below each respective category and the link to apply online at the bottom of the page.

Note: Individual award recipients will be chosen from within each award category. Please note, you may only apply for one of the award categories and awards.

Leadership

Volunteerism, Advocacy & Community Service

This category honours candidates who go above and beyond to foster goodwill and make a difference through volunteer work and causes they are passionate about, such as working with youth, coaching, peer tutoring, combating food insecurity, or engaging with youth-focused charities and not-for-profits. It also recognizes those advocating for individuals with special needs, improving their lives and community contributions. Candidates who demonstrate leadership through humanitarian work, express themselves well on behalf of Canada, and engage in travel or governmental affairs are also celebrated. Additionally, it highlights those making a positive impact in Social Justice by addressing community needs, overcoming adversity, and advocating for equality to build stronger communities.

Perseverance

Health, Wellness & Perseverance

This category honours candidates who have overcome personal obstacles or hardships, including mental health challenges, or who have advocated for others through community leadership. Successful candidates may have contributed by increasing suicide prevention/awareness, reducing stigma, fostering belonging, purpose, and hope, or connecting others to resources or support. Distinguished achievement in athletics, whether through individual participation, team sports, or coaching, is also recognized. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to volunteer work and community service.

Talent

Skills Development & Creative Expression

This category honours candidates who demonstrate exceptional leadership and community service, showing a commitment to improving life for themselves and their families. They should articulate how they have overcome challenges and displayed leadership through planning, listening, mentorship, and collaboration. Candidates may also exhibit passion for creative expression and advanced skills in fields like music, art, design, entrepreneurship, education, or science. They should possess strong organizational skills, innovative ideas, and a commitment to community involvement and volunteer service.
