Y Opportunities is an employment program that assists people with diagnosed or self-identified disabilities to overcome their barriers to employment.
Meet Y Opportunities participant, Connor, and his employer, Scott Gillis, owner of Rocky Mountain Chocolate! Connor became a skilled chocolatier under his guidance and mentorship.
“I am Scott Gillis and I own a company called Scogil Ontario Ltd, which owns two Rocky Mountain Chocolate Stores in London and Stratford Ontario. We provide high-end handmade chocolate, decorated caramel apples, fudge, and other chocolate confectionary items. One of the best things about working here is the smiles from customers and the feedback on how good our products are.
I worked with the Y Opportunities program here in London. I believe in caring for and giving youth a chance, respect for others on our team, honesty in feedback and how we run our business, and responsibility to give back to the community. Inclusiveness is part of our Core Values at Rocky.”
