Child Care for Children of Essential Worker Families in Sarnia Now Open

Heather Forbes, Regional Manager Children’s Educational Services, is so proud of the team at the JMFC Child Care Centre and here’s why…

As of today, June 1, the Y is offering Child Care for children of essential worker families in the Sarnia area. Y Educators at this centre have said they are ‘happy to be back doing what they love to do’. The team is working so well together and one of the children even told a Y Educator that ‘this grilled cheese is REALLY good’ at lunch today.

Guidelines have been established in partnership with the local health units that include; having 2 rooms operating with 6 children in each (2 staff per 6 children), ensuring there is no co-mingling between the rooms, that all children will be screened daily by a Y staff dressed in full Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), that an isolation room is set up to quarantine any individual exhibiting symptoms, that only child care staff, children and cleaning staff enter the site, that a cleaning company will sanitize the site every day upon close, and that the use of playthings will be heavily monitored by staff and put into containers upon use for decontamination. The Y will ensure that children continue to engage in play-based learning and explore the outdoor space while enjoying a healthy meal plan established by our dietary planners.
