The YMCA thanks donors for support in responding to urgent community needs.

As the Fall is upon us, we want to take a moment to thank our donors for supporting the Y during this unexpected year. It's more important than ever to celebrate what we have been able to achieve together! When times are tough, the Y steps up. It always has and always will. We are able to step up for our communities today because of the generous support of our donors.

Because of this support, 3 out of 10 members and participants received financial assistance to access YMCA programs. Through these gifts, our donors are helping to build a vibrant, healthy, and inclusive community. This is our most important work moving beyond COVID-19.

This year, we asked for support for the highest needs of our Y as we navigate the pandemic and closure of our programs. We couldn't have imagined a summer without the laughter and energy of campers at Camp Queen Elizabeth and Camp Henry. Our health and fitness centre doors and pools closed and our child care centres and class rooms sat empty for a time.

When COVID-19 began impacting our community, as a charity we were able to pivot and adapt our programs to address the new reality faced by our members and community. Many of our members reactivated their membership fees as donations, and our Y donors responded with generosity. This support has helped us with our financial subsidies for families as programming gradually resumed with pandemic restrictions lifted.

The generosity of our donors helped change lives in our communities. It also helped our Y navigate the pandemic as a charity. Thank you!
