GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and
organizations to transform their communities and the world. Taking place after Black Friday
and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday is often referred to as the “opening day of the giving
season”.
Introduced in 2012 by Henry Timms at the 92nd Street Y (not affiliated with the YMCA) in
New York, GivingTuesday is based on the simple idea of a day that encourages people to do
good. In 2013, CanadaHelps.org, GIV3, and several other partners initiated GivingTuesday
in Canada. Last year, over $50 million was raised for Canadian charities.
Since its beginning, GivingTuesday has expanded around the world, inspiring hundreds of
millions of people in more than 80 countries to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity
in whatever ways they can.
Will you join us and take part in #GivingTuesdayCA? December 3 is the world’s largest
generosity movement day! Everyone has something to give and every act of generosity
counts! Let’s unite through the power of giving and help transform lives and communities
for the better.
