PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS 

Tiny Tot Sports
(Ages 3 - 5 years)
Introduce your toddler to the basics of sport! Kicking and catching and throwing, oh my! By repeating the basic skills in a low-stress environment, your child will gain confidence in themselves while improving their basic motor skills. Monday 5:30-6pm Members Only - Drop In Program

Little Rascals
(Ages 18 months – 5 years)
An unstructured program where parents can spend time playing in the gym with a wide variety of equipment including balls, hoops, mats, tunnels, parachute and more. This program is designed for the toddler who cannot sit still. Open to all, no charge

Play Care
(Ages 3 months–7 years)

This is a child minding service for members and guests who need require care for their children while in the facility working out.
Children will play with toys, make crafts and play games under the careful supervision of staff.

Child membership or family membership: No charge
Non members: $4.00 per child

Pre-School Dance
(Ages 3 - 5 years)
There’s a rhythm in all of us, so start your toddler on the right path to expressing it with pre-school dance. Using music, games, and dance techniques you will see your toddler gain confidence, coordination, and self awareness. Wednesday 5:15-6pm Cost: Members: no charge Non Members: $70

 

 

YOUTH PROGRAMS  

Basketball Fundamentals
(Ages 7 - 12 years)
With the NBA in full swing, why not let your kids see what they can do on the hardwood. Skill fundamentals are at the forefront of this program, but your child will also come away with improved confidence in their abilities, and a better sense of teamwork. Monday 6-7pm Cost: Members: no charge Non Members: $50

Winter Baseball Training
(Ages 9 - 13 years)
Geared for the player with some experience under their belt, winter baseball will help baseball and softball players refine their skills, athleticism, and understanding of the game to prepare them for the upcoming season. This program is led by a member of the Sarnia Braves Baseball Club, and players are required to bring a glove, with bats and helmets optional. Monday 7-8pm Cost: Members: no charge Non Members: $50

Game On! (All ages)

This program provides an opportunity for those with disabilities to participate in different organized sports.
The program includes gym time, crafts, swimming and other activities.

Members: No charge
Non members: $50

Guitar Basics
(Ages 6 - 12 years)
All the legends of rock and roll started somewhere! Learn the basics of guitar using chords, scales, notes, and tablature. A recital will occur at the end of the session as students will show off what they’ve learned. Must provide your own guitar. Tuesday 5:15-6pm Members only: Registration required

Silly Science
(Ages 6 - 10 years)
Wow! Gross! Just a couple words your kids might use to describe the experiments they do. From chemistry to physics, this drop-in program with allow your child to perform fun experiments and learn about why they work…or in some cases didn’t work! Tuesday 6-630pm Members Only: Drop in Program

Cheer Stars
(Ages 6 - 12 years)
Give me a Y! Give me an M! Give me a C! Give me an A! The YMCA is offering a cheer course for the excitable child in your life. Using various cheer techniques, your child will quickly make any dull moment seem amazing while building self confidence and unleashing the star in them. Wednesday 6-6:45pm Cost: Members: No charge Non Members: $70

Homework Club
(Ages 6 - 12 years)
With the help of a qualified teacher on staff to oversee, the homework club gives your child a chance to do their homework in a quiet environment while their sibling has swimming lessons. This is drop-in program is free for all kids looking to catch up or get ahead of their workload. Thursday 5-7pm Members and Non Members welcome: no charge

Youth Night/Stronger Kids
(Ages 8-13 years)
Youth Night is back, but this time with a twist! Your kids will come enjoy all the Y has to offer, including swimming, board games, and sports. Now they will have the opportunity to also experience our Wellness Centre, as Stronger Kids helps teach youth proper, safe methods to train their body as they grow. Youth Night is a great way for the youth in your life to make friends, learn new skills, and give you as a parent a few hours to yourself! Friday 6:30-8:30pm Cost: Members: no charge Non Members: day pass fee

Youth that are 14 years old may access the Wellness Centre without a parent or guardian. Please note any youth between the ages of 12-15 years are encouraged to meet with a Wellness Coach to learn how to safely use the wellness equipment and and have a personalized fitness program developed.

Wellness Access for Youth (Ages 10 - 13 yrs)

When youth participate in physical activities with family it strengthens potential for healthier lifestyles long term.
Youth ages 10-13 may access the Wellness Centre with a parent and/or guardian 16 years of age or older after completing an orientation with a wellness staff member.

Youth orientation is similar to the adult orientation (ensure a safe and balanced program), except a parent and/or guardian MUST be present. Please see a wellness staff member to set up an orientation. After receiving the orientation, youth ages 10-13 must always be accompanied by a parent and/or guardian 16 years of age or older when accessing the Wellness Centre.

Youth that are 14 years old may access the Wellness Centre without a parent or guardian. Please note any youth between the ages of 12-15 years are encouraged to meet with a Wellness Coach to learn how to safely use the wellness equipment and and have a personalized fitness program developed.

 


YOUTH ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS 

Canadian Safety Council Babysitting Course Ages 11 + (must be turning 12 years within the calendar year)

This course offers basic first aid and care giving skills for youth 11-15 years of age. Participants learn how to provide care to younger children in a
variety of age groups and how to prevent and respond to emergencies.
The course also offers youth the training to promote themselves as a babysitter to prospective parents. Registration required.

Dates: February 1, 2019
9:00am - 3:00pm

Members: $54.00, includes manual
Non Members: $64.00, includes manual

Participants should bring a lunch. Lunch break will be supervised by staff.
Please note we must have a minimum of 8 participants to run this course.

Canadian Safety Council At Home Alone Course (Ages 10–12 years)

Is your child ready to stay at home alone? Empower children with confidence and skills to care for themselves when home alone.
Participants learn strategies to create a safe and positive environment, how to look after themselves for short periods of time, how to handle real life situations, injury prevention and basic first aid.
Registration required.

Date: February 23, 2019
9:00am - 1:00pm

Members: $33.00, includes manual
Non Members: $43.00, includes manual
