Adult Group Classes & Programs  (January - June, 2017)

Boot Camp
A cardio interval workout utilizing weights, squats, lunges, plyometrics and sport style drills. A full body workout. 
Cardio Challenge
A multi level workout joining high intensity and low impact movement ending with resistance and flexibility exercises.  Suitable for all levels.
Cardio Fight/Core
Cardio Fight burns a ton of calories and builds total body strength. This fun mix of kicking and punching movements is aimed at shaping your shoulders, upper back, abs and legs and improving balance, endurance, strength and stability.  It is for anyone wanting a challenging, athletic, and motivating workout. It’s explosive, electric, and thrilling. It’s a great way to add variety to your training and improve timing, precision, and focus. Plus it’s a great way to kick stress out of your life!  Add them together and see what you get!!! Core is a 30 minute athletic and functional core strength workout.  It strengthens everything from your shoulders to your hips to make you stronger, quicker and faster in all you do.  
Creating Balance
A 12 week program that allows you to work with a trainer to develop your personalized weight management program and increase your success! Please see a qualified trainer or enquire at Membership Services to book a consultation.
This exciting indoor class is a low impact workout that strengthens the muscles in the legswhile burning calories & building stamina.
Fitness Instructor Training 
If you enjoy fitness classes or training in the Wellness Centre and would like to motivate others to achieve a healthier lifestyle, become a nationally certified YMCA Fitness Leader. YMCA Fitness Leadership Model Chart: www.ymcaswo.ca

• Basic Theory
Basic Theory is the first stage of the YMCA Fitness Leadership Program. This course provides information that every Fitness Leader must know prior to moving into Applied Theory. Candidates will acquire basic knowledge in Anatomy & Physiology, Principles of Training, Movement Mechanics, and Nutrition.This course can be attended by anyone 16 years of age or older.

• Fundamentals of Group Fitness
Fundamentals of Group Fitness helps Fitness Leaders acquire the pertinent information related to teaching fitness classes in a group setting regardless of the modality chosen. Fitness Leaders will also gain an understanding of the YMCA member and learn how to foster relationship building in their fitness classes.

Group Blast
BLAST OFF your workout with 60minutes of cardio training that uses the STEP in highly effective, athletic ways. Group Blast Will get your heart pounding and sweat pouring as you improve your fitness, agility, coordination, and strength with exciting music and group energy. HAVE A BLAST.
Group Centergy
Group Centergy is a perfect way to improve balance, mobility, flexibility, and strength. it puts back all  that we take out and really centers your energy. It's ideal to be your workout of choice or add it once a week to your current workouts to reinvigorate the mind and body. 
Group Power®
Group Power® is Your Hour of Power! Blast all your muscles with this high-rep weight training workout. Using an adjustable barbell, weight plates, and body weight, GroupPower® combines squats, lunges, presses, and curls with functional integrated exercises. Dynamic music and a motivating group atmosphere will get your heart rate up, make you sweat, and push you to a personal best! Power Up!

Personal Training
Combining each aspect of a healthy lifestyle, a typical personal training session will focus on cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and injury prevention. Pairing personal training with our healthy nutritional advice is a great way to educate and motivate you to reaching your health related goals faster. Sessions are an hour long, and tailored to your needs and abilities. This is truly something that anyone can benefit from, regardless of their fitness level. Certified personal trainers provide motivation, education and results.
Power Circuit
A strength based interval workout utilizing a variety of resistance equipment, body weight movements and plyometrics. A fun yet challenging full body workout.
Running Club
This club is for those who love running or those who want to start running. We meet twice a week and have different levels of running. This club makes running fun and motivates people to push through their goals and set new ones.
Total Body Workout
Designed to improve cardiovascular strength, range of motion, balance and strength which allows participants to complete daily movements with confidence.  It incorporates elements of aerobics, muscle strengthening, balance and flexibility that can be performed standing or seated. 
TRX Training
This revolutionary new group training program is all about the functional movement that develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously. Limited to 8 participants. 
Women's Ball Hockey
Women's Volleyball
Energizing, rejuvenate and strengthen yourself through yoga. Relieve stress and create balance in your body and mind through exercises in breath control, stability, and flexibility.
